What is the Microba Microbiome Explorer testing process?

The process flows through referral, kit dispatch, sample return, and report delivery.

Your healthcare professional submits a referral through the Practitioner Portal, and you'll receive an SMS or email to place your order. The test kit is dispatched to you within 24 to 48 hours.

You collect the sample at home and return it to our lab. Results are released within two to four weeks and appear in the Practitioner Portal. Your practitioner can then share the report with you directly. If extra support is helpful, an optional Clinical Application Specialist session can be booked.

How can I manage metabolic health through the gut microbiome?

You can support your metabolic health by shaping your gut microbiome to work in your favour. That means creating the right environment for helpful microbes — which supports balanced blood sugar regulation, healthy lipid levels, efficient energy use, and reduced inflammation.

Looking after your microbiome is a powerful way of looking after your whole-body health.

What are polyphenols, and how do they impact the microbiome and gut health?

Polyphenols are plant-based compounds found in foods like berries, tea, dark chocolate, herbs, and spices. They act as antioxidants, and many of them also have anti-inflammatory properties.

A diet rich in polyphenols can help reduce markers of gut inflammation — such as faecal calprotectin — and support beneficial gut activity by increasing plasma IPA levels, which are linked to gut and overall health.

In short, polyphenols are a natural, everyday way to support your microbiome and gut health through the food you eat.
